At True Blue Partners (TBP) we have been investigating this hypothesis and our recent attendance at Microsoft Nashville Summit 2017 has furthered our conviction. The headlines have been grabbed by Microsoft’s Azure cloud offering, its recent acquisition of LinkedIn and its potential impact on CRM and HCM applications, the significant re-organization of its partner eco-system, and most importantly, renewed involvement of Bill Gates through Satya Nadella.

But having been operators ourselves, we wanted to take a look under the hood, so our team flew down to Nashville, TN to attend their User Group Summit.

It was a 4-day event made up of a collection of user groups within the 365, AX, GP, CRM, and NAV product lines. And to keep the alphabet soup going, the Summit was headlined as D365UG / CRMUG. The TBP team met with senior Microsoft Executives and Partner business leaders in attendance and the and the key highlights of our findings included:

  • Tenerife is going after the Quickbooks Online market with new energy
  • Deeper integrations with LinkedIn can be a game-changer in CRM
  • Salesforce’s Einstein AI vs. Microsoft’s Azure-driven AI. Too little too early.
  • Microsoft’s M&A driven transformation is starting to bear fruit
